Our Annual Report Reveals How Much Content Marketers Make and What’s Next for the Profession
Baton Rouge, Louisiana — Managing Editor Magazine, content marketing’s alt-weekly, has released its third annual Career Survey exploring trends in compensation and career growth among content marketers.
The 2022 Career Survey Report starts with a simple question: How much do content marketers make? This year’s report also explores the day-to-day duties of content marketers, the most common job titles, what technology they use and much more.
Managing Editor conducted a survey from Feb. 8 to May 31, 2022, and collected 305 responses. Key findings include:
- B2B and B2C brand marketers are equally likely to make $100,000+ and to be eligible for a bonus.
- Content strategy and writing are content marketers’ favorite job responsibilities.
- Budgeting and data analysis are the least favorite duties, but they correlate with higher earnings.
- Content marketers put in long hours, with 41% working 40+ hours per week.
- 68% are working remotely full time.
- 55% have never worked in traditional journalism.
Content marketing continues to evolve and mature, but there’s a long ways to go. This survey benchmarks the industry’s current state while pushing the content marketing community to be the best it can be.
