Former Avo's Food Mart Will Be Renovated to Become Content Marketing Agency's Headquarters and Studio
Rep Cap, a B2B content marketing agency that serves HR tech, financial services and insurance companies around the world, has acquired the property at 2964 Government Street for $225,000.
After renovations, the 2,500 square foot building will serve as the headquarters for the growing firm, which has 12 employees across the U.S.
“ We were designed as a remote-first firm when we launched a decade ago, and this investment doesn't change that model, but it does give us a much-needed home base,” said Mary Ellen Slayter, the agency's founder and CEO. “When renovations are complete, we'll have a flexible mix of studio and office space to better accommodate our growing need for multimedia production services. Plus, I won't have to battle everyone else for parking at French Truck.”
LaQuinton 'Q' Nimox, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, of DNA Workshop will serve as lead architect, supported by BUILD Commercial Construction.
“We are very excited to be a small part of the reinvestment in this neighborhood,” Nimox said. “We look forward to the completion of this project and what it will mean for Mid City.”

“I’ve always passed this building and thought it could be an awesome addition to the rapidly evolving Mid City area. As a Baton Rouge native, I am excited to be a part of the continued momentum of Mid City,” said Nick Miller, President of BUILD.
“We’re very excited to be making this investment in Mid City,” said Rep Cap CFO Jane Mitchell, who will oversee the project. “I’ve had my eye on this funky old building for years. It needs some love, but has a lot of charm and is in an amazing location. While we plan to create a place to do serious work, it is my dream to turn this adorable building into one of the most delightfully queer spaces in Baton Rouge.”
Elifin Realty represented Rep Cap in the purchase. Gulf Coast Bank & Trust is funding the renovations.
